Recommended news readers, subscription tools and how to hear our shows.

If you are new to blogging or listening to podcasts, you need to get some very basic and simple news reading programs that will allow us to push our content to your news program, and thus insure that you will get each update or podcast as it occurs and free you of the process of having to come to us to see if we have added new content to the site.

Life would be easier if Microsoft would get their new browser out to the market, but until then, here is what you should be doing to get our content sent to you.

1. Go to Mozilla.com and download the Firefox browser.
It's the easiest, most elegant solution to those of you who want to get blogging content pushed to you, and subscription is as simple as clicking a little icon on your browser and it's done for you. If you are on a Windows computer, go to The Mozilla web site and get the free Firefox browser. It is spyware free, crash free, RSS enabled, doesn't have pop ups, and is used by millions of people every day, or in short, everything Mircrosoft Internet Explorer should be, but isn't. You can run both browsers if you don't want to give up on IE, which is what I do, but once you get Firefox you won't go back to Windows unless forced at gun point. Once you have it installed, you'll notice a little orange box and icon in the lower right hand corner every time you are on a RSS enabled site. All you have to do is click it, and from that point on you are subscribed to the content. All updates automatically come to you, and you don't need to go hunting for our latest update. It's that simple, that easy and you take it for granted about a week after you start using it.

2. Go to Apple.com and make sure you have the latest update to their OS X browser and operating system. It's a simple upgrade for existing users, all new Apple purchasers have it build in already. Much as with the Mozilla browser listed above, the new "Tiger" system imbeds an RSS reader right in the browser, and all an Apple user has to do is look for the little blue RSS icon in their internet reader bar, click on it, and just as with Mozilla, you are then subscribed to the RSS feed content for that page. It's elegant, simple, exceptionally time efficient and allows you to read our current content out of your favorites with out having to navigate to our site.

3. To get our podcasts it takes just a little more work but go to Itunes at the Apple site and you are on your way. Up until July 2005 it was VERY difficult to subscribe to podcast content unless you were a full time computer nerd and were willing to navigate a lot of quirky software and really work to get it done. However, with the advent of Itunes providing podcast content, which you will be able to find both Settlement Channel and Legal Broadcast Network content on, it's going to be much, much easier. The first step is to go to The Itunes site at Apple and download the 4.9 version of Itunes. Once you have done that it is a very simple process to sign up for and obtain our shows on the Itunes site. Type in either Legal Broadcast Network or Settlement Channel and starting August 1st, 2005 you will be able to download all of our past shows, as well as subscribe to all of our new content. It's free, it's simple, and you can have the shows sent to your Ipod automatically if you are into the whole Ipod phenomenon. If you don't have an Ipod it will just load to Itunes and you can hear it there.

4. If you  use windows and want an exceptional alternative to Itunes, then go check out Odeo , which is another really great podcasting site that carries our content. Odeo is a start up firm that is essentially a bunch of genius talent from the group that created Google, so I expect them to be a major player in the podcast world. Go to the Odeo site and you can either download their windows system or link into Itunes. It's really very simple, i've been running their Beta link, and again, starting November 1, 2005 some of our past shows will be available on their site, and all you have to do is hit the subscribe button, and every time you open your computer our most recent shows will automatically download to your Odeo player and you can hear our shows. Again, exceptionally easy, no brainer, and a great way to get the content for a minimum of hassle. Highly recommended.

5. Finally, you can go to Yahoo! and their podcasting site that just became active October 15th, 2005 and use what is the most effective and simple podcast subscription tool I've seen yet. We are already on Yahoo!, each of our last few weeks shows are available, but they have a great search engine and subscription tool that is exceptionally simple and easy to use. I can't recommend it highly enough. Go here to the Yahoo link, hit the Subscribe button on the Legal Broadcast Network feed, and all of the Settlement Channel content, as well as featured Legal Broadcast Content, will be right there for your use. I love this new service and it is my first choice for podcast subscriptions and I suggest you make it your first choice as well.

Ok, that's it. We now have multiple ways for you to subscribe to the written content, the audio content, but if you MUST do it the old fashion way, you can just click to the site, read, scan and hit the podcast show links and you will hear our shows right here on the web site any time you'd like. We've made this as easy as we can, and hopefully, you join in and start subscribing FREE to hear this great content. You don't need to do anything once you have the reader, subscribe to the shows and visit our site!

So get your reader, add our URL for The Settlement Channel, and start enjoying our shows, commentary and guests.
